Following the removal of Prof. Joshua David Shall of Adamawa State University (ADSU) [image above], on grounds of financial scandals and religion sentiments, the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), and Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU), Adamawa state university chapter, has, as a matter of urgency, called for the reinstatement of the removed Vice Chancellor of the university.

The duo Association, in a joint press conference with Journalist in Yola, issued a press release and signed by the chairman of the union, Abubakar Aliyu Song.

He attributed the crisis in the university to the recent removal of the substantive vice chancellor to the absence of the Governing council that made some individuals to take the advantage and mislead his Excellency Sen. Jibrilla Umaru Bindow to remove the vice-chancellor despite his good intentions for the university.

“The removal of the vice chancellor was a great setback to the university as it draws the university from the glaring development the university is witnessing before the sudden change.

“This action contravenes the autonomy of the university and therefore unacceptable to the union,” they said.

The letter also labeled the imposed Vice Chancellor, Dr Moses Zaruwa to be one of the most corrupt men who is already guilty of many fraudulent attitudes in his few weeks in office.

The letter said Dr Zaruwa is facing corruption charges to the tone of 73 million naira in EFCC; created a parallel ASUU; has contributed in the sacking of 25 staff of the university; and he imposed  Mini – laptop (a toy) charges to poor students to the tune of over 60,000.00.

Other charges against him are: he and His mentor, Dr Alkassum Abba are power brokers behind all the crisis in the university; with their sentiments they disengaged many employed staff of the university.

The union, therefore, advises the visitor on the need to reconstitute the university Governing council immediately, and revisit and reverse the decisions for the progress and development of the university.
