Court grants Obi, Atiku leave to inspect INEC materials [update]

The Court of Appeal, sitting as the Presidential Election Petition Court, has granted leave to the Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, Peter Gregory Onwubuasi Obi, and his Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) counterpart, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar to inspect sensitive materials used by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to conduct last Saturday’s presidential election.

News Band had earlier reported that angered by the reported fraud that characterized the just concluded presidential election, Alhaji Abubakar and Peter Obi respectively approached the court seeking permission for the inspection of election materials used during last Saturday’s poll.

Their request is contained in two ex-parte motions they filed at the PEC secretariat at the Court of Appeal, Abuja.

However, both presidential candidates requested PEC in Abuja to allow them to inspect materials used for the February 25 election.

The aggrieved duo had snubbed the reconciliatory move made by the President-elect, Bola Tinubu, who in his acceptance speech after he was unceremoniously declared the winner of the poll on Wednesday, asked them to support him in the task of building the nation.
