Some 35 people have been reportedly killed in Oganaenugu/Bassa, Kogi State, by a terrorist band of Fulani herdsmen, ElombahNews has gathered.

Meanwhile, in a previous bulletin, ElombahNews reported how on 14th March, 2018, an attack was carried out on Ogane-Nigu and nearby communities in the Eastern Senatorial Zone of Kogi State by armed bandits also suspected to be herdsmen.

in a statement issued by the Director-General, Media and Publicity, Office of the Governor, Kingsley Fanwo, the Kogi State Government ensured that the military, the police and other relevant security agencies, including members of the Kogi State Vigilante Services were immediately mobilised to the affected areas.

Mr Fanwo also assured that the violence has been contained and brought under control but the undaunted marauding band seems not yet to yield to the effort.

The State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, reportedly conducted on the spot assessment of the distressed communities following which he met with Security Chiefs and community leaders.

It could be recalled that in February the state governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello donated land to herdsmen to attract them to the state.

Recently, The Minister of Defense, Dan Ali claimed that some states provoke the situation by making Anti-Grazing Laws and blocking grazing route of the cattle rearers.
