Group Warns Against “Dangerous” Hausa-Middle-Belt Alliance

The Nigerian Indigenous Nationalities Alliance for Self-Determination (NINAS) has warned against a proposed alliance between the Hausa and Middle-Belt regions, aimed at seeking partisan political power within the current unitary framework.

“We cannot claim to reject Fulani hegemony and conquest agenda but at the same time, push an agenda that reinforces the Fulani constitutional instrument of unchallengeable power and absolute control, which is the Unitary Constitution of Nigeria,” said Tony Nnadi, NINAS Secretary.

Nnadi cautioned that such an alliance would be a “dangerous self-sabotage” and distract from the more pressing task of liberating the regions from Fulani occupation and hegemony.

“We must prioritize our collective liberation and work together to dismantle the Caliphate-imposed constitution, rather than seeking political power within an oppressive system,” he urged.

NINAS has been at the forefront of the fight against the unitary constitution, which it describes as a tool of enslavement and subjugation. The organization has been working to establish a new order that prioritizes the rights and interests of indigenous peoples.

The proposed Hausa-Middle-Belt alliance has sparked debate on the intentions and implications of such a partnership. While some see it as a necessary step towards cooperation and progress, others view it as a reinforcement of the status quo.

“We must avoid dangerous self-sabotage by recognizing that our collective liberation is more important than partisan political power within an oppressive system,” Nnadi emphasized.
