Mr. Romanus Ejikeme, the father of Miss Joy Mmesoma Ejikeme, has appealed to the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) in particular, and Nigerians in general, to pardon his daughter.

Mr. Ejikeme made the appeal while talking to newsmen in Awka, the Anambra State capital, following the report of the eight-member panel set up by the state Governor, Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo.

Governor Soludo had mandated the panel to investigate the controversies surrounding the 2023 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) result of Miss Ejikeme.

Ejikeme was accused by JAMB of falsifying her result from 249 points to 362 points and barred her from taking its exam for the next three years.

Mmesoma has, on her part, tendered an unreserved apology to JAMB and Nigerians.

She also admitted that she forged her UTME result and made the confession to the probe panel.

Reacting to the fiasco following the scandal, Mr. Ejikeme admitted that he didn’t know where his daughter registered for the examination but said that he gave her the money for the registration.

The distraught father had insisted that her daughter did not forge her results, being a hardworking and studious student who did not joke with her studies.

Speaking to Nigerians, Mmesoma’s father said: “As I said earlier, my daughter didn’t open up to me on time, she didn’t.

“Then I realised the mistake she did; I warned and pleaded her not to dent her image.“I’m still apologising to Nigerians and JAMB to pardon her,” he added.

In the meantime, the executive chairman of Innoson motors, Chukwuma Innoson, has officially withdrawn the N3 million scholarship that was initially awarded to Miss Ejikeme following her indictment by the probe committee set up by Governor Soludo. Read more.
