The Minister of Police Affairs, Senator Ibrahim Gaidam, has stepped into the ongoing dispute between the Police Service Commission (PSC) and the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) over the recruitment of constables.

The PSC had released a list of 10,000 successful applicants, but the police rejected it, alleging corruption and irregularities.

The minister is working to reconcile the two organizations and prevent the issue from escalating further.

His spokesperson, Bolaji Kazeem, confirmed that the minister is working behind the scenes to resolve the matter.

The PSC had challenged the police to provide evidence of corruption, and the commission’s union had called for the removal of the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, for allegedly misrepresenting facts about the recruitment exercise.

The minister’s intervention aims to find a peaceful resolution to the dispute and ensure that the recruitment process is completed without further hitches.
