Ex-Cameroonian Footballer, Landry Nguemo, Dies in Road Accident

Former Cameroonian footballer Landry Nguemo has tragically died in a road accident near Yaoundé, Cameroon’s capital.

The 38-year-old former Indomitable Lions player was involved in a fatal car collision with a sand truck, resulting in his death and that of his chauffeur.

Nguemo, who retired from football in 2020, played for several clubs during his career, including French sides Saint-Etienne and Bordeaux, who both extended their deepest condolences.

He also played for Turkish and Norwegian clubs before returning to Nancy-Lorraine as a youth coach after his retirement.

The Cameroonian Football Federation and Nguemo’s former teammate, Samuel Eto’o, expressed their sorrow on a social media post sighted by Diaspora Digital Media.

Eto’o, now the president of the Cameroonian Football Federation, paid tribute to his former teammate, saying, “Landry was a talented player and a good friend. He will be deeply missed.”

Nguemo’s professional career began at Nancy-Lorraine in France, where he signed his first contract at 19. He went on to play for Girondins de Bordeaux and AS Saint-Etienne before moving to the Turkish and Norwegian leagues.

The football community mourns the loss of Landry Nguemo, a talented player and dedicated coach who left an indelible mark on the sport.
