The Court of Appeal has informed the workers in Abuja to stay away from the premises on Wednesday, September 6, 2023, ahead of the judgment of the Presidential Election Petition Court (PEPC).
This was contained in an internal memo signed by the Chief Registrar of the Court, Mr. Oluwaleye Oluwasegun David, dated Monday, September 4, 2023, and sighted by News Band.
September 6, it could be noted, is the day scheduled for the long-awaited judgment for the petitions challenging the election victory of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu brought by the Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Gregory Obi, and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, as well as the Allied Peoples’ Movement (APM).
According to the memo, only those with tags would be allowed entry into the court premises on the judgement day.
Mr. Oluwaleye noted that the measure was taken to ensure that a conducive and peaceful atmosphere pervades the atmosphere during the sitting of the Tribunal.
He also said that serious steps have been taken to guarantee security at the court complex
The memo said reads in part: “In view of the above, very strong security apparatus have been arranged to man the entrance of the Court and also in all strategic areas of the Court Complex.
“In addition, only staff with tags provided by the Management will be allow into the Court premises. Please be informed as instructed.” Read more.
