Sagamu LG moves to stop cult war after showdown that left 25 youths dead, others butchered

The authorities of Local government Are in Ogun State have reportedly embarked on moves to forestall further attacks and killings after the latest incident that saw 25 youths dead, with many more others seriously butchered.

News Band had reported that an ongoing supremacy war among cultist groups in Sagamu led to the gruesome murder of over 25 people.

An X user (formerly known as twitter), Wasiu Sobowale, took to the platform to draw the attention of the police and other relevant authorities to the carnage in the South West axis.

According to reports, the cult clash left dozens dead while others escaped with wounds inflicted by machetes and other dangerous weapons within 48 hours.

Reacting to the development, the Sagamu Local government chairman has reportedly imposed some harsh restriction of movement across the area.

Some of the announced imposed stringent laws include a restriction on movement of bikes and tricycles operations from 7pm to 6am daily.

The authorities said that they observed that the ‘perpetrators of the killings, atrocities and evils usually come into Sagamu when it gets dark with bikes and tricycles and escape same way after committing the audacious crimes.

The pronouncement also required everyone, especially youths, to start dressing decently to enable them separate the good from the bad.

“Anyone found wanting will be severely punished,” the announcement said.

The authorities also forbade prostitutes from hanging on the side of the road to avoid victimization.

They also advised anyone that is not satisfied with the stringent laws to leave Sagamu immediately.
