UPDATED: 8 security operatives perish in gunmen attack in Imo

Over eight members of joint security task force, which is made up of soldiers, policemen and Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps—NSCDC, have been killed by gunmen suspected to members of Biafra Liberation Army, under the command of Finland based scoundrel, Simon Ekpa, in Imo State.

Though, concerned authorities are yet to give an official figure of casualties.

The attack occured in Umualumaku community, Ehime Mbano local government area of the state.

A source authoritatively told NewsBand that the joint security team were in two security vehicles when they were ambushed by the rogue elements.

The security agents who were taken unawares, unfortunately, were overpowered by the hoodlums during exchange of gunfire.

In a gory footage exclusively obtained by this medium, the operational vehicles of the security agents were set ablaze with three shattered bodies lying beside it.

Meanwhile, a security source who doesn’t want to be mentioned revealed that reinforcement teams had been drafted to the area of the crime with the intent to nab the fleeing suspects and retrieve the bodies of the slain security operative.

Imo State police command is yet to issue a statement in respect to the unfortunate incident.
