There was palpable tension in Plateau state as aggrieved PDP youths took to the major streets on Wednesday, to vent their anger over the Appeal Court judgments which nullified the elections of PDP candidates.
The youths gathered at Mararaban Jama’a junction to condemn the conflicting judgments of the Appellate Court.
During the peaceful protest, combine security operatives who were drafted to strategic locations to keep vigil of any eventuality, while dispersing the youths, clashed with them which resulted to many sustaining injuries.
Also, traffic was disrupted for many hours, forcing traders to hurriedly close their shops while passersby scampered for safety.
Mr John Mark, PDP youth leader in a chat with NewsBand at the protest venue said they embarked on the protest because the judgments of the court was not favorable to the individuals the people of the state gave their mandate.
He said, “We are staging this peaceful protest today because the people we legally gave our mandate are being sacked by the court arbitrarily. We are protesting to inform the whole world over the bad treatment meted to our party”.
Meanwhile at the time of filling this report, the situation has been brought under control by security operatives.
