Doherty Shannen, Star of ‘Beverly Hills’, others, dies at 53

Shannen Doherty, an iconic actress who detailed her nine-year struggle with breast cancer and was featured on renowned series such as “Beverly Hills, 90210” and “charmed” has reportedly passed on, aged 53, on July 13, 2024.
Leslie Sloane, her longtime publicist, made her death known publicly.
Sloane stated: “It is with a heavy heart that I confirm the passing of actress Shannen Doherty.
“On Saturday, July 13, she lost her battle with cancer after many years of fighting the disease,” Sloane revealed to CNN.
“The devoted daughter, sister, aunt and friend was surrounded by her loved ones as well as her dog, Bowie.
“The family asks for their privacy at this time so they can grieve in peace,” she added.
On her podcast “Let’s Be Clear With Shannen Doherty”, Doherty had been sharing her cancer experience, with her latest episode aired on July 8.
In 2015, Doherty received her initial breast cancer diagnosis which subsided two years later.
However, in 2020, she announced its reappearance, spread and progression into stage 4.
By June 2023, she announced that the cancer had extended to her brain.
Although it was obvious that her cancer had no cure, she was very open and optimistic whenever she exposed her forthcoming plans.
Doherty built a loyal fan base through her roles in “Heathers,” “Beverly Hills, 90210,” including its spin-off “90210,” and “Charmed.”
The late actress featured as Heather Duke in “Heathers”, a 1989 classic, and as Brenda Walsh in “Beverly Hills”, a series that ran from 1990 to 1994.
She also featured as Prue Halliwell in “Charmed”, a series that ran from 1998 to 2001.

“The last conversation that we had, she was in the process of realizing that things had taken a pretty significant turn,” Dr. Piro told New York Post.
“The conversation was about love and support and caring and still fighting through.
“She wanted to continue to take treatment and fight through, even though her physical condition had taken a bit of a downturn. And so we did.”
“That wasn’t even open for discussion, because that’s not how Shannen lived. She was an incredible warrior in everything she did”, he stated.
Even though Doherty had very limited options to keep her alive, she was ready to fight on. Unfortunately, she lost to the cancer.
After her passing, fans and friends alike remembered her, including several of her co-stars from “Beverly Hills, 90210” and other movies.
