Again, herdsmen attack Plateau community, kill 2

Less than a week after over 200 civilians were slaughtered on Christmas Eve in Bokkos and Barkin-Ladi local government areas of Plateau state, by suspected herdsmen, at least two more villagers have been killed in another fresh attack on Durbi village in the East local government area of the State.

Mr Markus Nyam, Transition Implementation Committee chairman who confirmed the unfortunate attack on Sunday, said that the gunmen stormed the village on Saturday night and killed a father and his son.

Though, Nyam said that the efforts of the vigilantes in the community who engaged the criminal elements resulted in the death of one of the attackers as others took to their heels.

Meanwhile, the Joint Security Task Force Operation Safe Haven operatives responded to the community’s distress call which eventually stopped the attackers from inflicting more damage.
