In a significant development, the Honourable Coordinating Minister of Health, Prof. Ali Pate, has affirmed Dr. Casmir Ifeanyi as the legitimate 15th National President of the Association of Medical Laboratory Scientists of Nigeria (AMLSN). This endorsement came during a Stakeholders Engagement Meeting on the Drafting of the Health Sector Strategic Blueprint, held in Abuja on Thursday, July 18th, and Friday, July 19th, 2024.
During the event, Prof. Pate praised Dr. Ifeanyi’s remarkable and unprecedented contributions to the health sector, highlighting the significant impacts he has made in his role as the AMLSN National President. As a gesture of his unwavering support, the Minister embraced Dr. Ifeanyi in front of the enthusiastic crowd, drawing hearty cheers from the attendees.
The affirmation from the Honourable Minister comes amidst reports of a leadership crisis within the AMLSN, with some “elders” allegedly attempting to undermine Dr. Ifeanyi’s position. However, the Nigeria Police Force has stepped in to intervene, advising Dr. Uche Odionyenma, who has been claiming to be the 14th President of AMLSN, to avoid creating further crisis.
The police have taken the necessary steps to secure the AMLSN Secretariat, ensuring that it remains under the control of the National President, Dr. Casmir Ifeanyi, until the situation is stabilized and normalcy is restored.
This strong endorsement from the Honourable Minister of Health and the intervention of the Nigeria Police Force undoubtedly reinforces Dr. Ifeanyi’s position as the legitimate and rightful leader of the AMLSN.
