Suspected members of Boko Haram have attacked Jakana Police Station in Konduga local government area of Borno State.
The attack resulted to the deaths of a police officer and a woman.
The criminal elements reportedly looted a huge cache of arms and ammunition during the raid.
The attackers according to media reports arrived at the police station around 1:00am, catching the security operatives off guard.
A fierce gun battle ensued, lasting for several hours, during which the insurgents overpowered the officers, looted the armoury, and set on fire two operational vehicles and a motorcycle.
Sources report that one of the destroyed vehicles belonged to the police, while the other was used by the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF).
Konduga local government chairman, Honourable Abbas Ali Abari, confirmed the incident and promised to provide further details as they become available.
Police authorities in the State are yet to issue a statement in respect to the development.
