The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) has bemoaned the decision by the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) to sell petrol lifted from the much talked about Dangote Refinery at a higher price than imported ones.
Newsband reported that the NNPCL started loading the first batch of petrol from the multi billion dollar Refinery on Sunday.
According to the oil giant, it got petrol at N898 per litre from the private refinery.
Though, Dangote Refinery had denied selling petrol to the NNPCL at N898.
Mr Anthony Chiejina, the spokesman of the refinery in a statement described the claim by the NNPCL as “misleading and mischievous”.
Before buying petrol from the Dangote Refinery on Sunday, NNPCL retail outlets in Lagos sold petrol for around N855 but on Monday, the NNPC said the Dangote petrol will now sell for N950 per litre in Lagos and N1,019 in Borno prompting reactions from Nigerians.
“If NNPC can sell Dangote products higher than the imported products then it doesn’t make sense. What was the celebration we had all these while then?” IPMAN National Welfare Officer, John Kekeocha, said on Channels Television on Monday, September 16.
