Former governor of Rivers State and current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Mr Nyesom Wike, has said that human rights lawyer and activist, Deji Adeyanju who is leading a campaign against him once begged him for a job and he turned him down.

NewsBand reported last week that Adeyanju, together with social media activist, Vincent Martins Otse, aka VeryDarkMan, led a protest against the demolition of Ruga, a settlement along Airport Road in Abuja.

Deji during the protest, called on Bola Tinubu to intervene in the matter, as he alleged that he demolition was unconstitutional.

But while reacting to the development, Wike dismissed Adeyanju as “jobless.”

He said he was in activism because he had nothing doing, recalling that he once came to seek his support to become the Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), a request Wike said he declined.

He said, “I saw one young man, they call him Adeyanju. He is from Kogi State. This young boy came to me that he wants to be the National Publicity Secretary of the PDP and I said no.

“I said he won’t be, and he was not. I have no regret about it. He has suddenly become a civil society activist.

“He has no job and that’s why he decided to turn to a civil society activist.”
