FG approves appointment of Acting Vice-Chancellor for Alvan Ikoku Federal University of Education

Owerri, Nigeria – February 6, 2025: The Federal Government approved Professor Onyeka Aloysius Chijioke as Acting Vice-Chancellor.

The Honourable Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, announced this appointment, effective February 10, 2025.

The appointment will last for a maximum of six months, providing leadership to Alvan Ikoku Federal University of Education.

This decision highlights the government’s commitment to smooth leadership transitions in federal institutions.

As Acting Vice-Chancellor, Professor Chijioke will facilitate the selection process for a permanent Vice-Chancellor.

He will not be eligible to apply for the substantive position once it is advertised, according to his appointment terms.
