Ekiti First Lady donates 18-seater bus to SUBEB nursery/primary school

Iye Ekiti, Nigeria –First Lady Dr. Olayemi Oyebanji reinforced Ekiti State’s educational commitment by donating an 18-seater bus to SUBEB Nursery School in Iye Ekiti.

Representing Governor Biodun Oyebanji, she emphasized their joint dedication to improving schoolchildren’s welfare through this impactful initiative.

Furthermore, this donation transitioned from mere words to impactful action, reinforcing the administration’s focus on accessible education infrastructure.

This initiative ensures that students directly benefit from proactive governance, fulfilling a promise made by the Governor during his visit.

During the presentation ceremony at the school, dignitaries, education stakeholders, and community members gathered to celebrate this achievement.

In her remarks, Dr. Oyebanji explained that the bus was donated by the Abiyamo Esther Oyebanji Foundation, named after her mother-in-law.

She emphasized that the donation was not funded by the state government but rather through the foundation’s philanthropic efforts.

“Dr. Oyebanji stated, ‘Governor Biodun Oyebanji donated this vehicle, demonstrating his steadfast commitment to uplifting Ekiti State residents.

‘By prioritizing education, he particularly focuses on improving our children’s lives in schools,’ she added.”

“It is also a fulfillment of his ‘talk-and-do’ promise made during his visit to this community.”

The First Lady also highlighted other impactful projects recently undertaken by the Abiyamo Esther Oyebanji Foundation.

These include the construction of a three-bedroom bungalow for an elderly widow in Igbara Odo, a maternity center in Aramoko Ekiti, and an event center in Ikogosi.

These initiatives underscore the foundation’s dedication to supporting vulnerable groups and fostering community development.

Dr. Oyebanji urged the SUBEB school’s management to adopt a strong maintenance culture to ensure the long-term usability of the vehicle.

She stressed that staff must use the bus strictly for official purposes, further noting its role in supporting educational activities.

“I charge school management to use this vehicle judiciously and ensure it fulfills its intended purpose effectively,” she added.

During the event, Commissioner Dr. Kofoworola Aderiye and SUBEB Chairman Professor Femi Akinwumi commended Governor Biodun Oyebanji. Notably, they highlighted his steadfast efforts to enhance Ekiti’s education sector.
