IGP Vows to strengthen NYSC collaboration for Corps members

Abuja, Nigeria – April 17, 2025 – The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Dr. Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has pledged to enhance cooperation between the Nigeria Police Force and the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).

This announcement followed a meeting with  Director General Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu at the Police Headquarters.

During the discussion, Dr. Egbetokun stressed the necessity of improved collaboration due to rising security concerns.

He stated, “We must work closely to ensure better protection for Corps Members.”

Additionally, he praised the NYSC for fostering national unity since 1973.

Furthermore, the IGP acknowledged the NYSC National Cultural Troupe’s outstanding performance at the recent National Police Day Celebration.

He also commended Brigadier General Nafiu as a dedicated officer. Meanwhile, the NYSC leader thanked the police for safeguarding Orientation Camps and lodges nationwide.

Moreover, Brigadier General Nafiu highlighted the role of police surveillance teams in ensuring safe travel for Corps Members.

With the next Orientation Course scheduled from April 23 to May 13, 2025, he requested increased security support.

He also detailed NYSC reforms empowering youth to combat unemployment.

Ultimately, this meeting signifies a crucial effort to improve safety for Nigeria’s youth service participants.
