Troops under Operation SAFE HAVEN (OPSH), thwarted an attack on Teegbe village in Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State, killing one criminal in the process.

According to a statement issued by Major Samson Zhakom, Media Information Officer for OPSH, the incident occurred on 23 April 2025, when soldiers responded swiftly to a distress call from a local resident.

“Troops swiftly mobilised to the scene, made contact with the attackers who fled towards an adjoining high-ground, and neutralised one of the assailants during a gun duel. Further exploitation led to the arrest of 2 individuals who are currently undergoing interrogation,” the statement read.

“The following day, on 22 April 2025, OPSH troops conducted a stop-and-search operation along the Katnan-Buratali road in Kadarko District, Wase LGA, where three suspected armed robbers were apprehended. They were found in possession of a fabricated pistol and were taken into custody for further questioning.

“During the interrogation, suspects confessed to have been operating alongside other gang members. Following the interrogation, the suspects volunteered to lead troops to their hideout to recover more weapons and arrest other gang members. However, while leading troops to the hideout, suspects attempted to disarm the troops in order to escape and were immediately neutralised,” the statement added.
