Gombe, Nigeria – A surprising event occurred at the Gombe EFCC Zonal Directorate on Monday, June 2, 2025, when a man voluntarily surrendered.
This incident, happening around 1:00 PM, involved Idris Adamu, who confessed to impersonation and fraudulently obtaining money from individuals.
According to an EFCC press release on X, the suspect visited the office, requesting to meet the Acting Zonal Director personally.
During the meeting, Adamu admitted to defrauding people of ₦9 million, promising employment opportunities in federal agencies.
In his confession, Adamu stated that he came to repent for his sins and confess to the EFCC.
He revealed he had obtained a total of ₦9 million from various individuals, claiming it was for employment opportunities in Federal Government agencies, which was false.
Although he claims to have changed, he expressed fear of the EFCC’s repercussions.
After listening to Adamu’s confession, the Acting Zonal Director commended him for his honesty and bravery.
He also urged others involved in similar fraudulent activities to come forward and confess voluntarily.
Sa’ad further directed that the suspect be handed over to the investigation department, ensuring a thorough inquiry into the matter.
Meanwhile, the EFCC reiterated its unwavering commitment to fighting financial crimes and urged the public to stay vigilant against fraudulent schemes.
The Commission emphasized its zero-tolerance policy for corruption and fraud, while encouraging individuals to report any suspicious activities immediately.
