North-East Senate Caucus defends alleged lopsided appointment

Senator Danjuma Goje (Gombe Central)North East Caucus of National Assembly has justified recent alleged lopsided Wednesday appointments made by President Muhammadu Buhari stating last

administration made sensitive appointments in presidency and ministries from southern part of the country.

The caucus recalled ‎that most key appointments in the last administration especially that of the Chief of Staff to the President, Secretary to the Government of Federation, Special Adviser on Media, Special Adviser on National Assembly. Matters were from south.

Addressing journalists in Abuja on Wednesday, the Chairman of the caucus who threw its weight behind the recent appointment added that if the country must move forward, it is necessary to choose between holding on to ethnicity and remain on same spot or a liberal nationalistic future.

Senator Danjuma Goje representing Gombe Central [pictured above], who briefed in company of other lawmakers from North East, added that ‎since the emergence of President Muhammadu Buhari as President there has been drastic change in the affair of the country which has earned him recognition in the International community.

‎The caucus said, “It is worthy of note that the leadership style of Mr. President since assumption of duty has left no one in doubt that Niger‎ia is finally on the path of rediscovery following many years of neglect and outright inept leadership. The President undoubtedly has been setting precedents in diverse ways even is short time which has earned him respect and the country recognition by the international community.

“It is high ‎time we got it right; it is not about where a man comes from but about what he can deliver especially in the interest of his people. President Barack Obama started with over 20 of his Harvard classmates and David Cameron of Britain started with most of his schoolmates. 

“This has in no way made the news in those countries because they had their eyes set on the bigger picture.

“We appeal to Nigerians that this administration is just about hundred days old and there are thousands of appointments to be made by Mr. President, therefore we believe that no section of the country will be marginalized.

“If Nigeria must move forward, we need to make a choice, either free future and move on to a greater heights or we continue to hold on to ethnic sentiments, state-ism and zoning and remain backward. We must shun all recessive agents and embrace‎ Change in the interest of democracy.

“We are throwing our weight behind Mr. President in the light of these recent events and enjoin fellow Nigerians to do same in the interest of peace and Democracy in Nigeria.‎”
