BREAKING: EFCC arrests former Sokoto governor Aminu Tambuwal

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), has arrested the former governor of Sokoto State, Mr. Aminu Tambuwal.

Diaspora Digital Media understand that Tambulwa is currently in the custody of the anti-graft agency over alleged fraudulent cash withdrawals totalling N189 billion.

The withdrawals which was made during his administration, are said to contravene the Money Laundering (Prevention & Prohibition) Act, 2022.

His arrest was confirmed by an insider source at the commission.

The source said that Senator Tambulwa is facing questions over suspicious transactions during his tenure, involving unauthorised withdrawals of public funds.

“The withdrawals are in clear violation of the Money Laundering Act,” the source said, adding that the investigation has been ongoing for months.
