Obiano to construct helipads for Anambra hospitals

All major referral hospitals like the General hospitals in Anambra state would soon get helicopter landing pads (helipads).

This was disclosed by Gov Willie Obiano yesterday, during the formal inauguration of the grassroots based non-governmental organization (NGO), Caring Family Enhancement Initiative (CAFE) Ambassadors driven by his wife, Mrs Ebelechukwu Obiano, in Awka.

And their construction has already begun, he noted.

The governor who was represented by the Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Dr (Mrs) Uju Nwogu said the helipads were to hasten easy movement during emergency cases.

That will, therefore, save more lives as appropriate in the state, even from very remote locations.

According to Dr Nwogu, the initiative had begun at the Onitsha General Hospital, and would soon be extended to other major hospitals in the state.

She also revealed that in critical referrals, it would be easy to fly a patient abroad without delay because the helicopter would take the patient direct from the state to the nearest International Airport.

She therefore urged for citizens to rally support always for the governor in his passionate zeal to make Anambra a model.
