This is to ensure that productions of Agriculture commodities are processed to avoid wastages.

This was made known by the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Chief Audu Ogbeh.

According to Chief Ogbeh, the Ministry has worked out modalities to ensure that Nigerians attains desire food security.

Chief Audu Ogbeh called on Nigerian youths to embrace agriculture to accelerate food production and overcome the challenges facing the country due to reliance in oil.

In a related development, the Federal Government of Nigeria announced plans to establish a National Women Empowerment Fund (NAWEF) and Government Enterprise and Empowerment Programme (GEEP)

The Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development, Mrs Aisha Alhassan, announced the plan at the graduation ceremony for a Skill Acquisition Programme held in Maiduguri the Borno State capital in the northeast.

According to her, the Federal Government is committed to transforming the lives of women and youths in Nigeria

The Skill Acquisition and Vocational Training Programme, was initiated by the National President of the Nigerian Air-force Officers Wives Association, Mrs Hafsat Abubakar.

Mrs Alhassan appealed to women-focused organisations to partner with the Federal Government in providing skills that would make more Nigerians self-reliant.

The training commenced on May 16, with 155 participants and among them were 80 youths and 75 women.

It seemed to be a happy moment as graduates of the NAFOWA vocational and Skill Acquisition Programme converged to mark the end of their training.

The Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development also announced the government’s plan to establish social protection programmes.

The Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshall Sadiq Abubakar, also urged the women and youths to be constructively engaged in the programmes, in order to promote peace and stability.

The NAFOWA Skill Acquisition and Vocational Training Programme, was initiated by the National President of NAFOWA, Mrs Hafsat Abubakar.

One of the aims of establishing the programme is to assist the youth as well as widows who had lost their breadwinners to insurgents in the northeast.

The Minister of Women Affairs presented certificates to the graduates while some of them expressed their gratitude to the government for the initiative.
