Wushishi said the council had recorded significant improvements in the conduct of the examination, including a reduction in examination malpractice and an increase in the number of candidates who sat for the examination. He attributed the improvement to the council’s investment in technology, including the use of biometric verification and the deployment of surveillance cameras in examination centres.
“We have made significant progress in reducing examination malpractice. The use of technology, including biometric verification and surveillance cameras, has helped us to detect and prevent malpractice. We are committed to ensuring the integrity of our examinations and to maintaining the confidence of the public,” he said.
The Registrar also announced that the results would be accessible on the council’s website, www.neco.gov.ng, and that candidates would be required to purchase a result checker token to access their results. He advised candidates to visit the council’s website for information on how to check their results.
“To check their results, candidates should visit our website and follow the instructions provided. They will need to purchase a result checker token, which is available on our website. We urge candidates to be patient and to follow the instructions carefully,” Wushishi said.
He also disclosed that the council had concluded arrangements to release the results of the Basic Education Certificate Examination and the Senior School Certificate Examination external results in due course. He said the council was working to ensure that all results were released promptly and that candidates were not subjected to unnecessary delays.
“We are aware of the importance of these results to the future of our candidates. We are committed to releasing all results promptly and to ensuring that our candidates are not disadvantaged by any delay. We will continue to improve our processes and to invest in technology to enhance the efficiency of our operations,” he said.
Wushishi also used the occasion to commend the Federal Government for its support to NECO, particularly in the area of funding and infrastructure. He said the council had been able to improve its operations due to the support it had received from the government and other stakeholders.
“We are grateful to the Federal Government for its continued support. We also appreciate the support of state governments, school administrators, teachers, and parents. Together, we can continue to improve the quality of education in Nigeria,” he said.
Candidates who sat for the examination have expressed anxiety over the release of the results, with many taking to social media to express their expectations. The release of the results will mark the end of a long wait for thousands of candidates and their parents, who are eager to know their performance and to plan for the next phase of their education. For now, all eyes will be on Thursday, September 24, 2026, when NECO will release the results.
