The residents of the state had on Friday taken to the streets of major towns such as Akure, Owo, Ondo, Ikare, Isua and Ilaje areas of the state.
They protested the removal of Jegede’s name on the list of approved candidates by the Independent National Electoral Commission [INEC].
Violence had broken out in Akure over nomination of Jimoh Ibrahim as PDP candidate in the upcoming Ondo governorship election in November.
Plan by Jimoh Ibrahim to visit the state same day was even shelved for fear of being attacked.
Akure was a boiling point as residents took to the street to protest the removal of the name of Eyitayo Jegede [SAN] as the PDP candidate from the final INEC list.

Major highways in the capital city and other parts of the state were blocked by protesters burning tires.
Also, activities in the capital city were paralysed as residents stayed indoors over fear that the protest might soon turn awry.
Later in the day, President Muhammadu Buhari went into emergency meeting with Olusegun Mimiko, Ondo state governor, at the presidential villa.
The meeting was held privately at President’s office.
Mimiko arrived Vila and went straight to Buhari’s office for the meeting which was held in connection with nomination of Jimoh Ibrahim as PDP candidate.
Ibrahim belongs to Sheriff’s faction of PDP and Eyitayo belonged to Makarfi’s Faction of the party.
