Court Premises Turn Tense as Sowore Supporters Challenge Security Presence

The premises of the Federal High Court witnessed tense moments on Wednesday morning as supporters of activist and former presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, openly questioned the heavy deployment of security personnel around the court complex.

Eyewitnesses reported that a group of supporters and sympathizers gathered outside the court ahead of proceedings involving Sowore. The situation became heated when some supporters allegedly confronted security officials stationed at the court entrance.

One of the vocal supporters, identified by onlookers as "Mama Pee," reportedly challenged the presence of numerous security operatives at the court while expressing concern over the country's security challenges, particularly the abduction of schoolchildren and teachers in parts of the country.

According to witnesses, she questioned why security resources were concentrated around the court premises rather than being deployed to rescue victims of kidnapping and banditry. She was heard urging security agencies to prioritize efforts aimed at tackling insecurity and securing the release of abducted citizens.

The atmosphere became more charged after some individuals claimed that certain lawyers associated with Sowore's legal team experienced difficulties gaining access to the courtroom. Witnesses alleged that security personnel restricted movement into parts of the court complex, a development that sparked further complaints from supporters present at the venue.

Several supporters argued that the security deployment appeared excessive, maintaining that Sowore was attending a judicial proceeding and should be allowed access to the legal process without what they described as an intimidating security presence.

Despite the verbal exchanges and growing tension, security officials maintained their positions around the court premises, while court activities continued under tight security.
