How a self-aclaimed Boko Haram army officer terrorized Nnewi community
A Nigeria army officer, Captain Ugochukwu Ulasi, ]pictured above] has turned himself into a self-acclaimed Boko Haram terrorist and terrorised a community known as Edoji Village in Nnewi, Anambra State of Nigeria.
Reason for his bizarre action, as ascertained by Elombah.com, was to settle scores with perceived “enemies” of his aged father.
The army officer, a Captain and a medical doctor, stormed the village with some of his colleagues and raided at least five homes in the thick of the night with his marauding gang.
The operation commenced around 23 hours late evening on Friday, October 28, 2016 and lasted for about five hours into early morning hours of Saturday, the 29th.
Efforts by local residents to reach local security operatives failed as indications are that he lobbied them for cooperation.
Elombah.com crew visited some homes of the affected families and witnessed firsthand the unprecedented level of damages inflicted by the raging officer.
In a particular home, the assailants demanded for the father of the house and declared verbatim that they came to kill the man.
Incidentally, due to the absence of the land owner, they attacked the son with matchetes and inflicted heavy injuries.
Not satisfied with the damage, they dragged the young man along with them as they raid more houses turn by turn.
In a particular house, they shattered the window glasses with matchetes in a bid to cower the landlord into submission.
Unknown to them, the young man was recording song with his phone from another device when they barged in and slammed him with matchetes.
The phone fell of his hands when they struck and ironically continued recording the succeeding actitivties, ranging from how they identified themselves as Boko Haram, to when they announced that they were there to kill the landlord.
The recorded audio is in the possession of Elombah.com crew.
On leaving the house, two isolated security men accosted them and inquired who they were and what they were doing.
As trained personnels, they quickly disarmed the security and carted away their weapons after inflicting injuries on the then hapless security men, withholding their own guns.
The highlight of the raid was when they attacked their main target, a certain 80 years old Mr. Kenneth Olih [pictured right].
When Mr. Olih heard an unusual bang on his door, he got furious and was already shouting threats on his “visitors” when it suddenly dawned on him that his late night guests are not ordinary.
His fears were confirmed when the intruders suddenly broke down his gate and badgered in shouting “Where is Kenneth Olih?” all over the house.
The old man quickly withdrew into the dark of the night into an adjourning garden and slouched low leaving his family at the mercy of the attackers.
After several minutes of breaking, smashing, beating, and damaging of properties they withdrew and made a swift comeback minutes later hoping to catch him unexpected.
Haven failed, they moved down to another home and met their surprise.
One of the villagers accosted them surprisingly and shouted his name and asked: “Why are you doing this to us, Officer”?
Haven sensed danger that they have been identified, they decided to silence the villager with the gun seized from the security men.
However, the gun failed to shoot as the local security personnels had removed all the bullets before bumping into the raging army operatives.
At that moment the villager fled in panic and they pursued with their personal guns and matchetes but the night saved the day of the local.
The whole episodes lasted for hours leaving the whole villagers quaking with fear, wondering who or which house will be attacked next by the rampaging band.
Having failed to find their targets at home, they later withdrew but the story was far from over.
The next morning, they went to the police department of Special Anti-Robbery Squad and alleged that some villagers attempted to kill him and his father the previous night.
And whom did he accuse of the attempted murder? The exact same land owners he attempted to assassinate over the night!
Presently, the community has sent an SOS message to the Nigeria Chief of Army Staff to rescue them from the hands of the marauding gang of the Nigerian army that laid siege on their community and wrought immense havoc and untold suffering on hapless old men and women.
