As the Ohanaeze Ndigbo National elections hots up , there is an indication that a former Governor of Abia state is set to hijack the National positions allotted to Abia state to prove his new capacity as a leader of the ruling APC.
A competent source noted that Dr Kalu has perfected the plan to influence those that will carry the day from Abia state at the elections and even candidates from other Igbo states to prove that he is the political czar in the South East in 2019 and beyond.
Meanwhile the election will hold in the next two weeks as an election committee headed by an erudite Professor Anya Anya with Professor ABC Nwosu as the Secretary has been set up to conduct the elections.
There is an indication that those who have held positions in the body two consecutive times will not be qualified to contest the election, a situation some outgoing NEC members are contesting.
The election will witness the battle of the titans as the President General zoned to Enugu state is being contested by Admiral Allison Madueke, former Chief of Naval Staff, Chief Nnia Nwodo, a former Aviation Minister said to be the candidate of Enugu state government, Barr Enechi Onyia SAN , Barr Ajogwu SAN, Prof Chinweite Ejike , a former Vice Chancellor of Enugu state University.
For the Deputy President General zoned to Imo state , the battle is between Prof Uzodimman Nwala of Alaigbo Development Assembly and Barr Reuben Okoro, a close ally of Owelle Rochas Okorocha. Some dark horses may however contend it.
The Secretary General zoned to Rivers state will be a battle between Barr Uche Okwukwu, Chief Jackson
Omenazu, Chief Chibudom Nwuche and Engr Isaac Nwonwu. The Deputy Secretary General zoned to Abia state is going to be fiercely contested by a one time Special Assistant to Amb Raph Uwechue , immediate past President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Comrade Chuks Ibegbu , Dr Greg Ibeh of Gregory University and Chief Ajuzieogu , the present Secretary of the Abia state Chapter of the body.
There is likelihood however that Comrade Ibegbu, a well-known media practitioner may settle for the Deputy National Publicity Secretary also zoned to Abia state.
Effort to get the views of the government of Abia state on the matter proved abortive though sources noted that the state government will be neutral in the matter and will not be disturbed by any move by any high level politician in the state to hijack the process.
The state will continue to support Ohanaeze Ndigbo
For the Deputy National Financial Secretary zoned to Anambra state Chief Mrs Chika Ibeneme a former commissioner for works in Anambra state is going to slug it out with Barr Emejulu Okpalaukwu , the leader of Ebubeagu Ndigbo.
For the National financial Secretary zoned to Imo state Barr Opara Emmanuel and Engr Cletus Amaraegbu a former SA to Owelle Rochas Okorocha will slug it out.
Other positions allotted to other states will also be highly competed.
It is believed too that there will effort by both the PDP AND APC to flex their muscle in the election as moves indicate .
