The government of Ghana has officially requested clergy men in the country with a prophecy about the nation to forward it for vetting before broadcasting it.

The instruction was contained in a formal letter from the office of the Envoy for Interfaith and Ecumenical Relations, Office of the President of Ghana.

The letter endorsed by the presidential envoy, Elvis Afriyle Ankrah, and dated 10 August 2026, was addressed to all religious leaders across the country.

The envoy thanked all the spiritual leaders in the country for their support and intercessory prayers so far.

Ankrah said as part of an effort to strengthen national coordination on spiritual matters in these complex and uncertain times, the religious leaders are encouraged to inform all prophets and pastors under their oversight to start forwarding their prophecies to him for review.

Prophecies of interest to him are those with national implications or that pertain to political leaders.

The envoy said this was in the spirit of responsibility, discernment and stewardship over the nation’s destiny.

He referred to the recent crash of a military helicopter, which killed eight ministers and others. The envoy called on the religious leaders to pray for the president, John Dramani Mahama, the government and the bereaved families.

Recall that several prophets in Ghana claimed to have foreseen the tragedy.

One, fondly called Fire Oja, released a video in April when he told a member of the Ghana Armed Forces that there would be an air crash.

In the video that went viral after the tragic crash, the cleric claimed he saw the congregant in uniform.

He claimed the man was sent on an errand involving flying and the plane crashed.

Fire Oja also claimed the tragedy would happen in 2025.

The tragedy indeed happened on Wednesday, August 6, 2026, but did not happen to the man he claimed in the vision.

It happened instead to his colleague in the Ghana Air Force, Sergeant Ernest Addo-Mensah.

Ghanaian government, a couple of years back, had called on spiritual leaders to stop spreading alarming prophecies about the country.

The latest letter from the presidency is believed to be another effort in the government’s bid to stop a rash of alarming prophecies in the country.

Many Ghananians see it as a positive development that will bring sanity into the religious atmosphere.
