Bye-Elections: Peter Obi Seeks Support For Amamgbo, Azuka, Others

The Labour Party (LP) candidate for the 2023 presidential election, Mr. Peter Obi, has thrown his weight behind the senatorial candidate of the All Democratic Congress (ADC) for the Anambra South senatorial zone bye-election, Mr. Donald Chidi Amamgbo.

Mr. Obi was personally present to convey his message at Ihiala on August 14, 2025, at a mega rally organised by the party.

Speaking, Obi told residents of the zone that this is a chance they must not miss, as Mr. Amamgbo possesses the requisite persona for proper representation at the Senate.

The former presidential candidate also solicited support for other ADC candidates across the country.

Some of the candidates include:

  • Mrs. Justina Amaka Azuka, whose husband, Hon. Justice Azuka, was slain by hoodlums, a testament of the gnawing insecurity in the state.

Mrs. Azuka will represent Onitsha Constituency 1 at the House of representatives if elected to office.

  • Hon. Alexander Adanu to represent Chikun/Kajuru Constituency also at the House of representatives, amongst others.

Taking to his “X”, formerly twitter handle, Peter Obi dropped the following message for members of the Coalition for Protection of Democracy (COPDEM) and Obidients on his official account respecting the 2025 Bye-Elections:

“This is expected to take place in the 16 States of the Federation with 2 Senatorial, 5 Federal House of Representatives and 9 State Assembly seats available for voting.

“Kindly note that because the Labour Party has no recognised candidates by INEC due to the internal crisis.

“I humbly urge every member of Obidient and COPDEM families to go out and vote for the coalition political party, African Democratic Congress (ADC), in their respective states.
