Troops of the Nigerian Army successfully thwarted an early-morning attack by armed bandits on their base in Babanna, Borgu Local Government Area of Niger State, neutralizing scores of attackers in the process.
The incident, which occurred at approximately 2:30am on Thursday, saw the bandits—riding in large numbers on motorcycles—launching a coordinated attack on the military facility.
In response, the troops engaged the assailants in an intense gun battle, showcasing their resilience and tactical superiority.
While the bandits managed to evacuate most of their casualties, at least one body was left behind as evidence of their losses.
The swift action of the soldiers ensured the attackers were repelled, preventing what could have been a devastating breach.
Following the clash, security operatives heightened their alert level in the area to forestall further incursions.
Reports indicate that the situation in Babanna has since returned to relative calm, with authorities reassuring residents of their continued vigilance.
The military, alongside other security agencies, remains committed to maintaining close surveillance and safeguarding the community against future threats.
