Former Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has been sacked by Bayer Leverkusen after just three games in charge, the club has confirmed.

This is coming after 62 days in charge of the German side, who were held to a 3-3 draw after blowing a two-goal lead against Bremen on Saturday.

Leverkusen lost their first match of the Bundesliga season, a 2-1 home defeat to TSG Hoffenheim, a result that sent a wrong signal to the board of directors.

Ten Hag was appointed Leverkusen manager in May, having been dismissed by Man United in October last year.

The Dutchman was appointed by the Bundesliga side in May as the successor to Xabi Alonso, who left to take charge at Real Madrid.
