The world football governing body, FIFA has responded to the application sought by Mr. Chris Giwa to FIFA, through his lawyers, seeking to enforce various court orders he claims to have in his favour in order for him to take over the leadership of the Nigeria Football Federation [NFF].

FIFA made its position known in a letter made available to ElombahNews by football governing body, Keyamo Chambers, which also doubles as solicitors to the present board of the NFF.

The letter was copied both to NFF and the Confederation of African Football [CAF].

FIFA stated categorically that it will only recognise Amaju Pinnick as the duly elected NFF President.

It also reminded Giwa that any order he might have obtained from any court of law is not binding on the football governing body.

In the meantime, FIFA reminded the applicant that the Disciplinary Committee decision of January 10, 2017, the extend the ban slammed on him, Chris Giwa for breaches of the NFF statutes and the FIFA code of ethics still subsists.

Other four persons affected by the ban are Muazu Suleyman, Yahaya Adama, Sani Fema and Johnson Effiong.

Reacting to the FIFA letter, the solicitors to Amaju Pinnick, Keyamo Chambers said that the letter is therefore an SOS to the Nigerian authorities to respect the decision of FIFA.

Keyamo Chambers warned that as any other contrary step by the authorities may attract a lengthy ban of Nigeria by the world football governing body.

The Chamber, however, assured that despite FIFA’s position, it is still taking steps in court to set aside all the orders purportedly in Giwa’s favour and lay the issues to rest once and for all.
