Details have emerged about the tragic death of a prophetess, Ebere Chidera, and 19 of her church members, who were abducted from a prayer mountain in Orlu, Imo State.
Diaspora Digital Media understand that Prophetess Ebere, who led a church in Orlu, had embarked on a three-day fasting and prayer retreat in the forest with 20 members of her congregation.
After completing the fast, they gathered to break their fast when armed men stormed their camp.
Reports indicate that the attackers shot at some members attempting to flee, instilling fear in the rest, before dragging both the wounded and others deeper into the forest.
The victims were taken to a den reportedly operated by kidnappers, ritualists, and organ harvesters.
Investigators later found personal items like car keys, slippers, and clothing scattered at the camp.
This medium also gathered that the kidnappers contacted the church, demanding N30 million for Prophetess Ebere’s release.
However, they refused requests to allow communication with her, raising concerns that she had already been killed.
The church decided to cooperate with the ransom demand while secretly notifying the police. A combined team of security forces and local vigilantes laid an ambush and apprehended the gang member sent to collect the ransom.
Under interrogation, the suspect revealed the location of the gang’s den.
Security operatives stormed the forest and uncovered a gruesome scene. Several gang members were arrested while others escaped, and human skulls and body parts were reportedly found at the site.
The lone survivor from the church retreat disclosed harrowing details to the police, stating that killings occurred almost daily and that the suspects performed rituals involving human flesh and chants.
Authorities confirmed that over 30 individuals were involved in the horrific activities, and investigations are ongoing
