PDP Chieftain, Akika, kidnapped by gunmen in Oyo

A prominent chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State, Benedict Akika, was reportedly kidnapped on the night of September 4, 2024, at his residence in Olorunda, Lagelu Local Government Area.

According to investigations, heavily armed gunmen stormed Akika’s residence, threatening to shoot anyone who resisted.

An anonymous family source revealed that Akika was relaxing with his family when the assailants arrived, firing shots to intimidate residents and bystanders.

According to unconfirmed reports, it was alleged that one individual was killed by the assailants during the attack.

As of press time, efforts to reach the Oyo State Police Public Relations Officer, Adewale Osifeso, for confirmation had been unsuccessful.
