Why Tinubu will lose in 2027 — Aregbesola

Former Minister of Interior and National Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Rauf Aregbesola, has predicted that President Bola Tinubu and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) will lose the 2027 general elections, citing declining popularity and insecurity within the party.

Speaking on Saturday in Ilorin at the inauguration of the ADC’s new Kwara State secretariat along Basin Road, Aregbesola criticized the APC for its aggressive tactics against opposition members, which he claimed revealed fear rather than confidence.

Aregbesola argued that the ruling party’s harassment of opposition members nationwide reflects its lack of popularity. “If APC is confident of its strength, it wouldn’t be so hyped and charged as to hound and hunt opposition all over the place. Their grandstanding only shows insecurity,” he remarked.

He expressed confidence that the ADC would capitalize on APC’s unpopularity to take over leadership in Nigeria.

“By the grace of God, ADC will take over the mantle of leadership in Nigeria and in most states,” he declared.

Aregbesola dismissed governors defecting to the APC as “enemies of the people,” describing their actions as irrelevant to ADC’s growth. “They are hated, so it’s good riddance to bad rubbish,” he added.

Former Kwara State Governor, who recently defected from the PDP to the ADC, echoed Aregbesola’s confidence, calling the ADC’s emergence a “new dawn” in Kwara politics.

“This is the beginning of a new direction in our political experience, and we are poised to take over leadership of the country in 2027,” Ahmed stated.
