Don’t let your hatred for Mutfwang ruin Tinubu’s chances — Group warns APC chairman

A pro-Tinubu group within the All Progressives Congress (APC), Renewed Hope Advocates for Tinubu 2027, has called out the party’s national chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, over alleged efforts to block Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State from joining the APC.

In a statement issued in Abuja, the group’s National Coordinator, Comrade Zakari Mohammed, warned that such actions could undermine President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s vision of unity and reconciliation within the party ahead of the 2027 elections.

According to Mohammed, President Tinubu’s leadership is centered on bridging political divides and strengthening the APC by welcoming credible opposition figures like Governor Mutfwang.

The group described these efforts as part of a larger “national unity project” aimed at expanding the party’s influence.

However, during a recent Plateau APC leadership meeting chaired by Yilwatda, a motion was reportedly passed to block the governor’s potential defection to the party, despite Mutfwang publicly denying any intention to join the APC.

The group criticized this stance, stating, “Certain individuals within the Plateau APC, led by Dr. Nentawe Yilwatda, are actively working to frustrate Governor Mutfwang’s possible entry into the party.

This contradicts President Tinubu’s inclusive leadership approach and undermines efforts to build a stronger, united APC.”

In response, Yilwatda’s media aide dismissed the accusations as “baseless and politically motivated,” asserting that the chairman is focused on rebuilding the party and bears no animosity toward Mutfwang or any potential defectors.

Meanwhile, Renewed Hope Advocates for Tinubu 2027 urged the APC National Working Committee (NWC) to intervene, warning that internal divisions in Plateau APC could deepen without decisive action.

The group reaffirmed its support for Tinubu’s reconciliation agenda, emphasizing the importance of unity within the party.
