(DDM) – The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Delta State has announced a renewed drive to reclaim political dominance in the Ughelli North, Ughelli South, and Udu Federal Constituency.
DDM gathered that the party recently organized a series of events aimed at strengthening its base and empowering youths, women, legislators, and media operatives.
The activities included the U3 Youth Empowerment and Leadership Summit, inauguration of the U3 Media Ambassadors, the U3 Legislators Forum, the PDP LGA Executives Empowerment Summit, and the empowerment of women leaders through the Olotu and Ekuogbe Rowland Akpodiete Foundation.
The events were held across key locations, including Otor-Ihwreko Town Hall in Ughelli North, Civic Center Otor-jeremi in Ughelli South, and PDP Secretariat Otor-Udu in Udu LGA.
Dr. Olotu Otemu Akpodiete JP, convener of the initiatives and a former House of Representatives aspirant, led the programs, emphasizing the party’s commitment to reclaiming its lost mandate ahead of the 2027 elections.
The events drew participation from notable PDP figures, including acting chairmen and executives from the three LGAs, demonstrating unity and strategic focus within the party.
During the U3 Youth Empowerment and Leadership Summit, youths pledged their support for Dr. Akpodiete as the party’s sole representative candidate for 2027.
Hon. Stephen Ashiemuke, Ughelli South LGA Youth Leader, moved a vote of confidence for Dr. Akpodiete, seconded by Engr. Benedict Onovughakpor, Ughelli North LGA Youth Leader.
Dr. Akpodiete encouraged the youth to work collaboratively, highlighting that the PDP intends to produce a youthful governorship candidate in 2027.
The inauguration of the U3 Media Ambassadors reinforced the party’s commitment to strengthening its communication strategies.
Ambassador Comrade Kphoraror Emmanuel, Chairman of the media team, along with Prophet John Adafan, Vice Chairman, Comrade Temple Eteyeta, Secretary, and Mrs. Eunice Alu, Publicity Secretary, were charged to promote the party’s achievements and counter opposition narratives.
The U3 Legislators Forum, comprising former councilors and led by Hon. Patrick Bodosika, aims to foster collaboration, share ideas, and support legislative initiatives that advance the party’s agenda.
Meanwhile, the Olotu and Ekuogbe Rowland Akpodiete Foundation empowered women leaders across the constituency with cash, gifts, and wrappers.
Dr. Akpodiete emphasized that empowering women is central to enhancing their participation in politics and consolidating PDP’s influence in the constituency.
The series of initiatives has revitalized the PDP, boosting morale among members, reinforcing leadership structures, and creating a vibrant platform for youths, women, and media engagement.
Analysts note that the party’s renewed focus on empowerment and unity could significantly strengthen its position ahead of the 2027 elections.
With a committed leadership team, empowered constituents, and a growing media presence, the PDP in Ughelli North, Ughelli South, and Udu Federal Constituency appears poised to reclaim its former political prominence.
