Suspected Lakurawa Terrorists Kill 3 Immigration Officers in Kebbi

Suspected Lakurawa terrorists have attacked a Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) checkpoint at Bakin Ruwa, along the Maje border in Bagudo Local Government Area of Kebbi State, killing three officers.

The attack occurred around midnight on Thursday, November 27, sparking fear and panic in the surrounding communities.

A source told reporters that the officers had taken refuge in a nearby mosque when the gunmen pursued them.

The attackers reportedly opened fire with sophisticated weapons and set the mosque ablaze while the officers were inside.

The source also suggested that the terrorists may have used rocket launchers during the assault. In addition, the attackers razed the officers’ quarters, leaving the checkpoint in ruins.

This incident comes less than a month after a customs officer was killed and official vehicles burnt in the same Maje border area, highlighting the persistent threat from the Lakurawa group.

No official statement has been issued by security authorities as of press time.

The Lakurawa group has previously been linked to multiple attacks targeting both security personnel and civilians across Kebbi State.
