President Bola Tinubu has officially sworn in retired General Christopher Musa as Nigeria’s new Minister of Defence.
The ceremony took place on Thursday at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, a day after the Senate confirmed his appointment following a rigorous screening session.
General Musa, who recently retired as Chief of Defence Staff, replaces Alhaji Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, who stepped down on Monday citing health reasons.
With a decorated military career spanning over three decades, Musa is a recipient of the prestigious 2012 Colin Powell Award for Soldiering and served as CDS from 2023 to October 2025. He’ll be turning 58 on December 25
