The Borno State Police Command has defused an unexploded ordnance (UXO) planted under a network mast at Chuskon, Federal Low Cost Area of Maiduguri.
The device was discovered on Monday, December 15, 2025, and the EOD-CBRN team swiftly responded, cordoning off the area and rendering the device safe.
The police spokesperson, ASP Nahum Daso, stated that the UXO had two protruding wires and was strategically placed to cause severe damage.
A hand plier, T-shirt, and pair of shoes were found at the scene. The police have launched an investigation and are working to identify the perpetrators.
The Commissioner of Police has commended the EOD-CBRN team and emphasized the importance of vigilance and cooperation with security agencies to prevent security breaches.
