Reports have emerged that a Nigerian national was killed while fighting for Russian forces against Ukraine, four years into the ongoing conflict.
The death was confirmed by journalist Jaafar Jaafar and security analyst Zagazola Makama, who described the incident as tragic.
Makama noted that the man had left his family in Northern Nigeria to enlist with Russia’s military, only to lose his life on the battlefield.
Images circulating online reportedly show the deceased with his children.
The war, which began with Russia’s full-scale invasion in February 2022, has claimed hundreds of thousands of lives and displaced millions.
Russia, facing manpower shortages, has increasingly relied on foreign recruits, private military contractors, and allied militias. Ukraine continues to receive military and financial support from Western allies, including the United States and the European Union.
