JUST IN: Only bastards and devil northerners will vote for Tinubu and APC in this country—Melaye

(DDM) – Former Kogi West senator, Dino Melaye, has stirred controversy following remarks he made while addressing the political landscape ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

In a recently circulated video, Melaye expressed strong opposition to the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and criticised the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC)

The former lawmaker warned Nigerians against supporting the current government in the next general election, citing economic hardship and governance concerns as reasons for his stance.

The comments come amid growing political realignments as several prominent figures have reportedly shown interest in alternative platforms, including the African Democratic Congress (ADC), as opposition groups position themselves ahead of 2027.

In the video, Melaye delivered a highly charged statement in which he used offensive language to describe potential voters who might choose to support Tinubu and the APC in the next election.

His remarks have since generated reactions across political circles and on social media, with critics condemning the tone of his comments while supporters argue that they reflect widespread frustration over economic conditions.

Observers note that political rhetoric in Nigeria often intensifies as election cycles approach, with public figures employing strong language to mobilise their bases.

However, analysts have also cautioned that inflammatory statements risk deepening divisions, particularly along regional and political lines.
Melaye, who previously served in the National Assembly, has been vocal in his criticism of the current administration’s handling of economic and governance issues. While he did not provide detailed policy alternatives in the clip, he referenced what he described as visible hardship affecting citizens as justification for seeking political change in 2027.

As of the time of this report, neither the Presidency nor the APC has issued an official response to the remarks. Political commentators suggest that such statements may further intensify debates over governance, economic reforms, and national unity as the country gradually moves closer to another electoral season.

Analysts stress that while robust political debate is a hallmark of democracy, maintaining civility and respect in public discourse remains essential to preserving social cohesion and national stability.
