IWD: Four Women Win LAPO Awards, Receive N2 Million

(DDM) – In a bid to celebrate International Women’s Day 2026 and promote female empowerment, the Lift Above Poverty Organization (LAPO) has awarded four exceptional women N2 million each for their outstanding contributions in business, farming, and professional sectors.

The award ceremony, held in Abuja, highlighted the achievements of women who have demonstrated resilience, innovation, and leadership in traditionally male-dominated fields. LAPO officials explained that the awards aim to recognize women who inspire societal progress through entrepreneurship, sustainable farming, and professional excellence.

Recipients included a successful agripreneur who transformed local farming techniques to boost food production, a businesswoman leading a thriving microfinance enterprise, and two professionals who have excelled in healthcare and education. Each awardee received N2 million alongside plaques of recognition and certificates celebrating their impact.

According to LAPO’s Executive Director, the initiative underscores the organization’s commitment to reducing gender disparities and providing platforms for women to thrive economically and socially. “Our goal is to empower women who drive change in their communities, inspiring younger generations to pursue ambitious paths,” she said.

The awards coincide with nationwide IWD celebrations, which focus on gender equality, women’s leadership, and socio-economic inclusion. Participants at the ceremony lauded LAPO for shining a spotlight on women whose contributions often go unnoticed, emphasizing the importance of recognition in motivating continued excellence.

In her acceptance speech, one awardee highlighted the critical role of mentorship, perseverance, and access to resources in achieving professional success. She urged other women to leverage available platforms and networks to overcome challenges in male-dominated industries.

The ceremony also included panel discussions on best practices for entrepreneurship, farming innovations, and professional development, providing attendees with practical insights into sustaining growth and impact in their respective fields.
