(DDM) — A mining company operating in Nasarawa State, Lideal Mines, has denied allegations that it disrupted government operations or engaged in illegal activities, insisting that it operates fully within the law.

The firm dismissed claims that it employed thugs to obstruct officials, describing the accusations as false and misleading. According to the company, its operations are backed by valid federal licenses, and it has consistently adhered to regulatory guidelines governing mining activities in Nigeria.

In a statement issued by its management, Lideal Mines maintained that it remains committed to lawful operations and peaceful coexistence with host communities and government authorities. The company emphasized that it has never interfered with official duties or attempted to hinder government oversight in any form.

The allegations, which have circulated in some quarters, reportedly suggested that the company obstructed state officials and engaged in activities capable of undermining public order. However, the firm strongly rejected these claims, calling for a fair and objective assessment of its operations.

Management further stated that the company has always maintained open lines of communication with relevant authorities, including regulatory agencies responsible for overseeing mining activities. It reiterated its willingness to cooperate with any legitimate investigation to clarify issues and reaffirm its compliance with the law.

Industry observers note that disputes between mining companies and local authorities are not uncommon, often arising from disagreements over land use, environmental concerns, and regulatory jurisdiction. In Nigeria, mining licenses are issued by the Federal Government, sometimes creating tensions with state governments over control and oversight of natural resources.

The company also highlighted its contributions to local economic development, including job creation and community engagement initiatives. It argued that its presence has brought positive benefits to the host community and should not be misrepresented by unverified allegations.

Experts in the extractive sector emphasize the importance of transparency and accountability in mining operations, noting that clear communication between companies, governments, and host communities is essential to avoiding conflicts. They also stress the need for adherence to environmental and safety standards to ensure sustainable resource exploitation.

Ensuring clarity in roles and responsibilities, analysts say, will be crucial to fostering a more stable and investor-friendly environment in the industry.
