(DDM) — His Royal Majesty, Obi Nomso Nwoko, has bestowed royal blessings on Hon. Kenneth C. Gbandi as the former diaspora leader intensifies consultations ahead of the 2027 Delta North senatorial race.

The development, disclosed by the Gbandi Media Team (GMT), highlights the growing intersection between traditional authority and modern political ambition in Delta North.

According to the statement, the royal endorsement carries deep cultural and spiritual significance, rooted in Anioma traditions where the blessings of monarchs are seen as enduring and impactful over time.

The phrase “Oji ọfọ aga” was invoked to emphasize the timeless nature of such blessings, suggesting that prayers offered by royal fathers do not fade but rather manifest when the time is right.

Hon. Gbandi, who is positioning himself for a possible Senate run, reaffirmed his commitment to preserving the cultural heritage and traditional institutions of the Anioma people.

He noted that traditional rulers remain central to community cohesion, describing them as custodians of values, identity, and social stability.

“Our traditional institutions are not relics of the past,” Gbandi stated, adding that they serve as the binding force that sustains the Anioma spirit across generations.

He further pledged continued respect and support for royal fathers, stressing that governance must align with cultural values and community realities to achieve meaningful development.

Political observers say the endorsement could strengthen Gbandi’s grassroots appeal, particularly in communities where traditional leadership structures still command significant influence.

They note that in many parts of Delta North, royal blessings are often interpreted as signals of acceptance and legitimacy within the local political landscape.

The move also reflects a broader trend in Nigerian politics, where aspirants increasingly seek the backing of traditional rulers to consolidate support ahead of elections.

Analysts, however, caution that while such endorsements carry symbolic weight, electoral success will ultimately depend on broader political strategy, party dynamics, and voter engagement.

As preparations for the 2027 elections gather momentum, attention is expected to shift toward how aspirants like Gbandi translate cultural goodwill into concrete political support across the senatorial district.
