(DDM) – A United States man has been arrested for allegedly posting threats to kill President Donald Trump on social media, authorities confirmed on Wednesday.

Diaspora Digital Media (DDM) learned that the suspect, identified as Andrew Emerald, 45, was taken into custody following a series of alarming messages shared on Facebook.

According to officials, the suspect allegedly published at least eight separate posts in which he threatened to injure and kill the US president.

Law enforcement agencies said the messages were flagged as credible threats, prompting swift action to prevent any potential harm.

Authorities noted that threats against public officials are taken seriously, particularly given recent security concerns surrounding political figures.

The arrest comes amid heightened vigilance following a 2024 incident in which Trump was grazed by a bullet during an assassination attempt.

That event had already intensified security measures around the president and increased monitoring of online threats.

Investigators are currently reviewing the suspect’s online activities to determine whether he acted alone or had any form of support.

Officials have not disclosed whether the suspect had access to weapons or the capability to carry out the threats.

Legal experts say the case could result in serious federal charges, including making threats against a sitting president.

They noted that such offences often carry significant penalties under US law.

The incident highlights growing concerns over the role of social media in amplifying threats and extremist rhetoric.

Security agencies have continued to warn about the dangers of online platforms being used to spread violence or incite attacks.

Observers say the case underscores the importance of early detection and intervention in preventing potential acts of violence.

Authorities have reassured the public that there is no immediate danger, while investigations remain ongoing.

The development has once again drawn attention to the challenges of balancing free speech with national security concerns in the digital age.
